Red Dead Redemption 2 remains one of the most immersive open-world experiences ever created, and its attention to detail has always been one of its standout qualities. Clothing in particular plays a more significant role in this Rockstar title than in its predecessors, directly affecting Arthur Morgan’s health depending on seasonal temperatures, while also offering special outfits that grant useful gameplay bonuses like improved Dead Eye. Now, thanks to a new community-made mod, this system has been polished even further, giving players a refreshed experience nearly seven years after the game’s release.
Catalogue Improvements Mod Fixes Key Clothing Issues
The newly released Catalogue Improvements mod, created by modders iAbokai and Suika and available via Nexus Mods, addresses long-standing clothing issues while introducing new items for both Arthur Morgan and John Marston.
One of the most notable fixes resolves the clipping problem, where certain pieces of clothing would merge awkwardly with character models, breaking immersion. The mod also corrects the long-standing issue with the bandolier not sitting properly on the torso, helping improve the game’s already meticulous sense of realism.
Since this mod builds upon existing community tools, players must have Lenny’s Mod Loader and ScriptHookRDR2 & Asiloader installed before using it.
New Clothing, Items, and Customization Options
Beyond bug fixes, the Catalogue Improvements mod enriches customization with fresh options, including:
-
New bow tie styles and additional glove colors
-
A working lantern item for use in the field
-
Previously cut outfits for John Marston, such as the Elegant Suit
-
Horse upgrades, including new horseshoes and an extra weapon holster
According to the creators, the update also hides several “surprise” features for players to discover organically, ensuring that experimentation continues to be rewarding.
Community Keeps RDR2 Alive
Even though Rockstar Games has not released major new content for Red Dead Redemption 2 recently, the game continues to thrive thanks to its modding community. Just last month, the title surpassed 77 million copies sold, further cementing its place as one of the best-selling games of all time.
While official updates appear to be slowing down, mods like Catalogue Improvements ensure that Red Dead Redemption 2 remains fresh, offering players new ways to immerse themselves in Arthur and John’s world. As long as the modding scene stays active, the 2018 classic will likely continue to attract dedicated fans for years to come.
