Twitch streamer Emiru has officially taken legal action following a disturbing assault at TwitchCon 2025, held in San Diego. During a meet-and-greet session, an unidentified man breached multiple security barriers and physically grabbed the creator, sparking outrage across the streaming community. In her latest livestream, Emiru confirmed that she has filed a police report and is pressing criminal charges against the attacker, calling the incident “one of the scariest moments” of her life.
The incident occurred on October 17, 2025, at the San Diego Convention Center, on the opening day of TwitchCon. Eyewitness footage shared online shows the assailant forcing his way through the crowd to reach Emiru before being restrained by attendees. Reports indicate that Twitch’s on-site security failed to respond immediately, which led to widespread criticism of the event’s safety measures.
According to Emiru, her management team contacted Twitch staff and Amazon representatives shortly after the attack, demanding immediate action. The suspect was later identified and banned permanently from both Twitch and TwitchCon. In a statement, Twitch confirmed that it was working “closely with local law enforcement” and would enhance its security policies for future events.
During her October 18 livestream, Emiru emotionally shared that this would likely be her final TwitchCon appearance, citing ongoing safety concerns for both creators and fans. She expressed disappointment in Twitch’s response, stating:
“They said they handled it fast, but that’s a blatant lie. I could’ve been seriously hurt — or worse.”
Emiru also encouraged other creators to reconsider attending future conventions until the platform proves it can guarantee their safety. Following the incident, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy publicly addressed the situation, stating that creator safety remains a top priority:
“We’re deeply sorry for what happened to Emiru. We’re reviewing our event protocols to ensure this never happens again.”
However, this isn’t the first time Emiru has faced harassment in public. Earlier in March, she was targeted during a live event known as Sis-A-Thon, where another fan acted aggressively toward her and fellow streamers. Despite these repeated incidents, Emiru has continued her streaming career with remarkable resilience and the support of her community.
The TwitchCon 2025 assault has reignited conversations about safety, accountability, and event management within the streaming industry. Many fans are now urging Twitch to implement stricter badge verification, enhanced crowd control, and trained security personnel for all upcoming conventions.
As the legal case moves forward, Emiru remains firm in her stance: “I’m not staying quiet about this. If something like this can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.”
