Respawn Entertainment has rolled out a brand-new update for Apex Legends, bringing a range of gameplay changes, weapon adjustments, and balance tweaks designed to fine-tune Season 26’s evolving meta. The October 2025 patch focuses heavily on balancing the Peacekeeper shotgun, marking the return of the Sentinel sniper rifle, and refining the abilities of several Legends, including Alter, Seer, and Mad Maggie.
While this update isn’t a massive overhaul, it shows Respawn’s ongoing commitment to balancing its ever-changing roster and weapon pool—ensuring that no single Legend or weapon dominates the competitive environment for too long.
🔫 Peacekeeper Takes a Step Back
The headline change in the new update centers around the Peacekeeper, which many players have described as “overperforming” since being removed from the Care Package. According to Respawn, the shotgun’s rate of fire has been reduced and its magazine size lowered from six to five shells.
Developers explained that the goal wasn’t to reduce the weapon’s raw damage but to limit how rapidly players could output that power during close-quarter combat. This decision should help restore balance among other close-range weapons like the EVA-8 and Mozambique, giving players more viable options for short-range encounters.
Developer Note: “The Peacekeeper has been outperforming other shotguns and CQC weapons by a large margin. We want to keep its punchy damage but slow down how quickly it can deliver that damage.”
🎯 Sentinel Returns After Extended Hiatus
One of the most exciting highlights of the October patch is the return of the Sentinel sniper rifle. The weapon was temporarily removed due to a persistent bug that prevented it from functioning properly. Now, Respawn has confirmed that the Sentinel has been fixed and is fully operational once again.
This classic bolt-action rifle remains a favorite among long-range players who prefer precision shooting, and its comeback should bring some much-needed diversity to the long-range weapon pool—especially in Ranked matches and competitive play.
🌀 Alter’s Void Nexus and Seer’s Exhibit Rebalanced
The latest patch also delivers critical balance changes to Alter, Respawn’s newest Legend. Players can now only deploy one Void Nexus at a time, down from two, reducing the ability to chain escape routes across the map. Additionally, downed players can no longer use the Void Nexus to avoid being finished off, though teammates can still use it to pull knocked allies to safety.
Meanwhile, Seer—who received a major rework earlier this season—has also been tweaked. Players can no longer ADS hover while inside his Exhibit, and a brief full-body scan has been added when an enemy exits the Ultimate’s area. These adjustments aim to make Seer’s information-gathering abilities more tactical and less oppressive in close combat scenarios.
🚗 Gameplay Fixes and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Beyond balance changes, the October update brings a wave of technical fixes and small quality-of-life improvements. Server performance has been optimized to help reduce occurrences of slow-motion gameplay, a recurring issue that has affected several regions. Respawn mentioned that more work is still being done in this area.
Additionally, Trident vehicles received fixes for input and camera issues, and the brake keybind was reverted to its previous setting. Mad Maggie also saw a small but noticeable fix—she now sprints at the correct speed when wielding shotguns, restoring her intended mobility and aggression in fights.
⚖️ A Balanced Future for Season 26
Season 26 has already brought sweeping changes to the Apex Legends meta, including adjustments to Ash, Caustic, Seer, and Mad Maggie, alongside weapon reworks like the Wingman and RE-45 Burst. With Split 2 now underway, Respawn’s continued fine-tuning shows the studio’s dedication to maintaining long-term balance and gameplay variety.
Although time will tell whether these latest tweaks reshape the Season 26 meta, early player feedback suggests that the Peacekeeper nerf and Sentinel’s return are welcome changes. Overall, the October 2025 update marks another steady step forward for Apex Legends as it continues refining its fast-paced battle royale formula heading toward the end of the year.
