Rumor: Resident Evil Requiem Might Feature Three Playable Characters

Fresh rumors are swirling around Resident Evil Requiem, with new claims suggesting that the highly anticipated title could include three playable characters instead of just two. While early reports pointed to a dual-character structure, it now appears that Capcom may be expanding the lineup.

First revealed during Summer Game Fest in June, Resident Evil Requiem immediately grabbed attention with its dramatic trailer. The showcase confirmed the series’ long-awaited return to Raccoon City and introduced fans to a brand-new heroine, Grace Ashcroft. Interest in the game skyrocketed following the reveal, with over one million players already adding it to their Steam wishlists—a promising sign for its eventual launch.

Possible Playable Trio: Grace, Leon, and Alyssa

Industry insider Dusk Golem, who has a strong track record when it comes to Resident Evil leaks, recently suggested that Requiem will feature three playable characters: “Leon & Grace. A little Alyssa, but that’s really it.” This would mark the return of Alyssa Ashcroft, a key character from 2003’s Resident Evil Outbreak, who has been largely absent from the series for over two decades. Considering that protagonist Grace is written as Alyssa’s daughter, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her appear in at least a smaller, supporting role.

The rumor also reaffirms that Leon S. Kennedy will play a central part in the story, despite his absence from the game’s initial reveal trailer. If accurate, this setup would pair one of Resident Evil’s most iconic veterans with a fresh face, alongside a legacy character making an unexpected comeback.

What Fans Can Expect Next

While Alyssa’s role—if she’s truly included—may be limited, the possibility of multiple perspectives could offer greater variety in gameplay and storytelling. This aligns with another recent leak that hinted at ambitious new features being developed for Requiem.

For now, nothing has been officially confirmed by Capcom. Fans should treat the leaks with caution, though the consistent flow of insider reports suggests exciting things may be on the horizon.

Resident Evil Requiem is currently scheduled to release on February 27, 2026, and with its launch drawing closer, Capcom is expected to ramp up its marketing efforts in the coming months.
