The future of Star Wars Outlaws is hanging in the balance, and fans are stepping up. Over 1,000 passionate players have already signed a petition asking Ubisoft to revisit its decision regarding a potential sequel. While Star Wars Outlaws launched in 2024 to generally positive reviews, its commercial performance seemingly fell short of Ubisoft’s expectations.

Developed by Massive Entertainment, the game gave fans something they’d long hoped for: a fully open-world Star Wars experience. However, despite a solid reception from critics and players alike, speculation now suggests that plans for Star Wars Outlaws 2 have been shelved—possibly even canceled.

The petition, hosted on Change.org, emphasizes how much the game has improved post-launch through patches and expansions. Supporters argue that a sequel has real potential and that Ubisoft could build on the foundation laid by the first game, much like it did in the past with Assassin’s Creed 2 after a lukewarm debut of the original.

One of the main criticisms of the game—the heavy reliance on stealth—was already addressed with an update, showing Ubisoft’s willingness to evolve the experience. Petitioners hope this same mindset could apply to the development of a second installment featuring protagonist Kay Vess.

Interestingly, Star Wars Outlaws isn’t done yet. The title is scheduled to release for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 in September, and fans believe strong sales on the new platform could convince Ubisoft to reconsider its stance.

For now, there’s no official response from Ubisoft regarding the petition or cancellation rumors. But with growing fan pressure and the potential for renewed interest following the Switch 2 launch, the galaxy might not have seen the last of Kay Vess just yet.
