Undisputed Championship Edition Faces Short Delay as Developers Announce Massive New Update

Category: News Published on 06:31 AM, Saturday, October 11, 2025

Just days before its planned launch, Steel City Interactive has officially announced that the undisputed Championship Edition will arrive one week later than expected, shifting its release from October 21 to October 28. The delay affects all platforms — PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC — but it’s not all bad news for fans. Alongside the new edition, the studio also confirmed a major game update is dropping on the same day.

While Steel City didn’t specify the exact reason behind the delay, the developer explained that the team is taking extra time to ensure that both the Championship Edition and the update deliver a polished, content-rich experience. The decision comes as part of the studio’s broader effort to improve the overall balance, fix long-standing bugs, and respond to community feedback from early players.

🥊 What’s Coming in the undisputed Championship Edition

Originally unveiled in September, the Championship Edition of undisputed is designed to be the ultimate package for boxing fans. It bundles together four DLC fighter packs, featuring a mix of iconic boxers and modern legends. Three of these packs have already been revealed, while the fourth remains a mystery — something the developers are teasing heavily ahead of launch.

The cover star for this premium edition is none other than Terence “Bud” Crawford, fresh off his historic victory over Canelo Álvarez. The edition will also include a new version of Crawford, representing his current prime form, which will be available for free to all existing players, even if they don’t purchase the new edition.

Those who already own the base game won’t be left out — they’ll have the option to upgrade to the Championship Edition at a discounted price, unlocking all the DLC fighter packs included in the bundle.

🗓️ New Release Date and Game Update Details

The updated release date for the Championship Edition is October 28, marking what could be one of the biggest days yet for undisputed. In addition to the new edition, Steel City Interactive is also preparing a massive patch that will launch on the same day.

Although the studio hasn’t released full patch notes yet, it has hinted that this upcoming update will be one of the largest gameplay overhauls to date, introducing mechanical improvements, fighter stat adjustments, and long-awaited fixes.

A key change confirmed by the developers is the resetting of player records, a move requested by the majority of the community. In a recent fan poll, over 85% of voters supported a full reset to ensure a fair competitive environment moving forward.

This reset will give all players — both veterans and newcomers — a clean slate to test their skills under the newly balanced gameplay systems.

⚙️ Previous Updates and Ongoing Improvements

The last major update for undisputed launched back in August, introducing two new fighters, multiple stat balancing changes, and a host of bug fixes. That patch also reworked the speed system for fighters switching to a Southpaw stance, which received positive feedback from players.

However, despite consistent updates, parts of the fanbase have criticized Steel City Interactive for focusing on paid content before addressing core gameplay issues. The upcoming October update aims to resolve that tension by prioritizing fixes and competitive balance first, before adding new premium content.

According to the development team, their mission is to “deliver the most authentic boxing experience possible,” and that means continuing to fine-tune AI behavior, stamina management, and hit detection, all of which have been frequent community concerns.

🥇 A Promising Future for undisputed

Despite its delays and growing pains, undisputed remains one of the most ambitious boxing titles in years. With its realistic physics, detailed fighter models, and dynamic camera system, the game has steadily built a loyal following since its early access debut.

The upcoming Championship Edition and October 28 update may prove to be a turning point, solidifying undisputed as the go-to boxing experience on modern consoles. If Steel City can successfully address the gameplay frustrations that players have raised, the game could regain strong momentum heading into the end of the year.

Until then, fans can look forward to stepping back into the ring with refreshed leaderboards, updated mechanics, and new fighters to master — all coming together for what promises to be undisputed’s biggest update yet.
