Sony has officially made the PlayStation Plus free games for August 2025 available for subscribers to claim. Each month, PS Plus members across all tiers—Essential, Extra, and Premium—gain access to a curated selection of games they can add to their digital collection, provided their subscription remains active.
Traditionally, Sony has stuck to a pattern of announcing these free games on the final Wednesday of every month, with the titles going live the following Tuesday. However, recent months have seen some adjustments to this routine. The August 2025 lineup, for example, was unveiled on a Tuesday, breaking from the usual announcement cadence. Whether this shift becomes permanent remains to be seen, but for now, players can dive into the new offerings.
This month’s free lineup includes three diverse titles, available until September 1:
-
Lies of P – A dark, Soulslike action RPG inspired by Pinocchio, renowned for its punishing combat and intricate level design.
-
DayZ – The fan-favorite open-world survival experience where players must fend off zombies and other players in a post-apocalyptic world.
-
My Hero One's Justice 2 – A fast-paced arena fighter based on the popular My Hero Academia anime and manga series.
With such a variety of genres, August’s selection offers something appealing for fans of challenging RPGs, survival sandboxes, and anime-inspired brawlers. Subscribers are encouraged to claim these games before they’re cycled out at the start of September.
More Freebies & Upcoming Additions
In celebration of PlayStation Plus' 15th Anniversary, Sony is also giving out a set of commemorative avatars. These feature iconic franchises like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo 4, God of War Ragnarok, and Twisted Metal, adding a bit of flair to player profiles.
Additionally, PS Plus Extra and Premium members have more content coming their way later this month. On August 19, Sword of the Sea, a highly anticipated indie title, will debut on PS Plus as a day-one addition. There's also speculation about classic PS1 versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 making their way to the Premium Classics Catalog soon, though their exact release timing remains unconfirmed.
