Halo Infinite fans have a lot to look forward to as August 5 is shaping up to be a milestone date with the launch of the Operation: Shadows update. Halo Studios (formerly known as 343 Industries) has pulled back the curtain on what’s coming, and it’s packed with surprises — including the long-awaited return of an iconic vehicle that hasn’t been seen in years.
The community still remembers the rocky release of Halo Infinite in late 2021, when essential features like campaign co-op and Forge were missing. Fast-forward to now, and after several years of consistent updates, Halo Infinite is evolving into a fan-favorite once again, with Halo Studios committed to keeping the momentum alive.
The highlight of the Operation: Shadows update is undoubtedly the return of the Falcon, the aerial troop transport first introduced in Halo: Reach. After being absent from the series for over a decade, the Falcon will now be soaring across several Big Team Battle maps in Halo Infinite, bringing back cherished memories for longtime fans.
In addition, players can look forward to a brand-new weapon: the Vestige Carbine, designed specifically for the new “Banished Slayer” mode — an asymmetrical Slayer variant that promises intense tactical gameplay. The update will also introduce a fresh Operation Pass, packed with exclusive rewards and customization options.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Ten classic weapons, including the Plasma Pistol, Gravity Hammer, and Stalker Rifle, will now be available in the Weapons Bench for further customization. Firefight matches are also getting a significant improvement, allowing players to toggle between first and third-person perspectives without needing to switch lobbies. Additionally, S&D Extraction will receive small yet impactful quality-of-life adjustments, enhancing the strategic gameplay.
Halo Studios didn’t stop at just teasing Operation: Shadows. They also revealed their upcoming content roadmap, with Operation: Warpath scheduled for September 9 and the spooky Operation: Haloween planned for October 7. Meanwhile, rumors about a potential Halo: Combat Evolved remake are intensifying, although no official announcements have been made.
For now, all eyes are on August 5, as Halo Infinite gears up for one of its most exciting updates yet.
