October 24 Could Mark a Turning Point for the Future of Halo

The Halo franchise may be on the verge of one of its biggest announcements in years. Halo Studios has officially confirmed that it will share new details about its ongoing projects during the Halo World Championship 2025, which takes place on October 24. For longtime fans of the iconic Xbox series, this date has quickly become one to circle on the calendar, as it may finally provide clarity on the future direction of Halo.

Ever since 343 Industries rebranded as Halo Studios and revealed its decision to transition development into Unreal Engine 5, speculation has been running wild. While players know that the studio has been hard at work reimagining Halo’s visual assets under Project Foundry, very little has been shared about actual upcoming titles. That may be about to change.

What We Know from Last Year’s HaloWC

At the Halo World Championship 2024, Halo Studios introduced Project Foundry, an internal initiative to rebuild the franchise’s assets using Unreal Engine 5. The studio confirmed that these enhanced models, environments, and effects would be used in future Halo titles, but stopped short of revealing which games were in development. Since then, the silence has left many fans eager for answers.

Rumored Projects: Combat Evolved Remake & Project Ekur

Two of the most talked-about possibilities are a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and the mysterious Project Ekur. Rumors about a Combat Evolved remake gained momentum after Xbox boss Phil Spencer hinted during the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase that a “classic that started it all” could return in a modern form. Many took that as a nod to Halo’s original 2001 entry, which launched alongside the first Xbox.

Meanwhile, Project Ekur has been surrounded by speculation for years. Once rumored to be canceled, more recent reports suggest the project is still alive and may take the form of an extraction shooter or a new multiplayer-focused Halo title. If true, it could represent one of the biggest shifts in Halo’s design since Halo Infinite.

The Community’s Mixed Expectations

While the prospect of new Halo announcements excites many, not all fans are convinced. On social platforms, some have voiced skepticism, arguing that Halo Studios has struggled to deliver meaningful updates over the past decade. One fan bluntly stated, “I have no faith in this group considering the last decade.” Others, however, remain hopeful that October 24 will finally bring the surprises the franchise needs, with wish lists ranging from remakes of beloved classics to entirely new spin-offs.

Looking Ahead

Halo Studios has promised both a Main Stage segment and a Community Stage panel during the HaloWC event, suggesting that fans will get more than a passing mention of what’s to come. Whether those reveals live up to expectations—or simply continue the studio’s cautious secrecy—remains to be seen.

For now, October 24 is shaping up to be a decisive day for Halo’s future. Will fans get a first look at the rumored Halo: Combat Evolved remake, a confirmation of Project Ekur, or something completely unexpected? Either way, the world will be watching as Halo Studios takes the stage.
