Path of Exile 2 Sparks Act 4 Speculation Ahead of Season 3 Launch

A mysterious social media post from the Path of Exile 2 team has fans convinced that Act 4 could be on the way — and it might arrive sooner than expected. The action RPG’s campaign currently spans three acts, each packed with main and optional quests that flesh out the story while rewarding players with valuable perks.

So far, Grinding Gear Games has rolled out 23 quests across Acts 1–3, available in early access. Players must complete these acts twice — first on normal difficulty, then on a harder mode — before unlocking the game’s endgame systems. Now, with Season 3 on the horizon, a new teaser has set the community buzzing.

The post, shared on the official Path of Exile 2 Twitter account, features an image of a note discovered in the ruins of Oriath. The note is covered in strange symbols, sparking speculation about its meaning. Popular loot filter creator Neversink suggested it might be a “stealth announcement” for Act 4, pointing out similarities between the symbols and the runes of Kalguur — the homeland featured in the Settlers of Kalguur update.

If the theory proves true, the timing couldn’t be better. Update 0.3.0 — launching alongside Season 3 on Friday, August 29 — will bring a brand-new League, a fresh in-game economy, and a content schedule mirroring the original Path of Exile’s four-month cycle. This means another major patch is expected in December.

Before that, fans will get another look at the game during Gamescom 2025, where Path of Exile 2 will host a Boss Rush event. Attendees will take control of a pre-made character and have 20 minutes to battle through 15 bosses, many of which haven’t yet been seen in the game.

With cryptic teasers, major updates, and high-profile events all converging, August is shaping up to be a big month for Path of Exile 2 — and possibly for the long-awaited Act 4.
