Bandai Namco has released a fresh patch for Elden Ring Nightreign, bringing a series of balance tweaks and bug fixes to the multiplayer Soulslike. While the update doesn’t introduce new content, it makes a notable adjustment to the Storm Ruler skill and addresses a wide range of technical issues.
Launched earlier this year, Elden Ring Nightreign blends challenging combat with co-op gameplay, earning strong reviews and an 81 average score on OpenCritic. Riding the momentum of the original Elden Ring, the spin-off moved over 3.5 million copies in its first week.
Patch 1.02.1 Highlights
The new patch focuses on refining existing systems rather than expanding them. Storm Ruler now charges its special effect more quickly, and its blade attack has received speed and power boosts under certain conditions. Alongside this, the update resolves over a dozen bugs, including one that could trap players after using dropped items and a PlayStation 5-specific glitch that sometimes caused the HUD to vanish before crashing the game.
Patch 1.02.1 follows last week’s larger 1.02 update, which introduced Duo Expeditions—a co-op mode designed for two players—as well as expanded relic management tools and other quality-of-life improvements.
Future Content Hints
While fans eager for fresh modes will need to wait, dataminers recently uncovered evidence of a potential “Deep of Night” mode, described as a ranked, endless dungeon. FromSoftware has not confirmed its existence, so its arrival remains uncertain.
Despite a drop in concurrent Steam players—from over 313,000 at launch to just above 52,000—the game continues to receive steady post-launch support from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, signaling a commitment to keeping the community engaged over time.
