The team behind the Roblox hit Grow a Garden has revealed plans to shift their development approach, emphasizing deeper farming mechanics over frequent event updates. Despite the game’s impressive milestone of reaching 21 million concurrent players, Splitting Point Studios feels the current roadmap lacks the innovation that once defined the game’s golden period.
In a recent message to the community via Discord, the developers explained that future updates will prioritize enriching player farms with new features like Incubators, Fertilizers, hidden Easter eggs, and a Garden Encyclopedia. While events have long been a draw for players, the studio acknowledges that keeping them fresh has become challenging, prompting this new focus on exploration and gameplay depth.

The announcement reflects some community frustration with repetitive events, and although new events won’t disappear entirely, the studio is determined to balance them with more robust farming systems. Ideas on the table include faster hatching Incubators, temporary rainbow crop effects through Fertilizers, and a Challenge Mode featuring timed tasks. Plans also hint at introducing “meta mechanics” and a permanent cooking system for feeding NPCs with farmed goods.
No specific release timeline has been shared yet, but Splitting Point Studios promises gradual rollout of these features in weekly updates. This strategic pivot aims to reengage current players and potentially attract new ones by deepening the core farming experience. The coming months will show how well this new direction resonates with the Grow a Garden community.
