The Final Ruinous Pokémon Enters the Spotlight
Chi-Yu, a member of the Treasures of Ruin legendary quartet, is normally known for its dark aura and fiery nature. For this event, its rare Shiny form is being featured for the first time in a global Tera Raid challenge. However, like previous Ruinous events, trainers cannot immediately catch Shiny Chi-Yu after defeating it. Instead, the community must collectively overcome the Pokémon one million times in raids. Once that milestone is met, it will become available as a Mystery Gift distribution through the internet until September 30.

During battle, Chi-Yu will quickly put up a raid shield and even reset Tera Orb charges, making the encounter more difficult.
Despite its strengths, Chi-Yu does have vulnerabilities. Its reliance on special attacks makes it especially weak to strong Water-type Pokémon. Recommended counters include Azumarill, Kyogre, and Walking Wake, all of which can handle its high Special Attack and Special Defense while exploiting its elemental weaknesses. At level 75, this is not a battle to take lightly.
Mass Outbreaks Bring More Shiny Hunting Opportunities
Alongside the Chi-Yu raids, Mass Outbreak events are also running until September 14. Players will find increased spawns of Charcadet, Vulpix, and Numel in Paldea, Kitakami, and the Terarium, respectively. Even better, these Fire-types now have boosted Shiny odds, giving trainers another reason to explore the overworld. By combining the event with Shiny Sandwich boosts, dedicated hunters can maximize their chances of encountering rare alternates.
