Pokemon GO Steel Skyline Event Debuts Dynamax Duraludon and Global Challenges

Niantic has officially announced that Dynamax Duraludon will make its long-awaited debut in Pokémon GO during the upcoming Steel Skyline event, scheduled to run from September 30 at 10 AM to October 7 at 8 PM local time. This highly anticipated addition marks another step in expanding Dynamax and Gigantamax features in the popular AR title, following their introduction earlier this year during the Max Out Season.
Duraludon, the Steel/Dragon-type Pokémon from Generation 8, is widely recognized for its metallic, dinosaur-like appearance. In the mainline series, it evolves into Archaludon when exposed to special materials, giving it a unique design resembling a bridge combined with an industrial stapler. While Pokémon GO has gradually incorporated other creatures from the Galar region, such as Falinks, Eternatus, and Morpeko, Duraludon’s absence had been notable—until now.
Event Highlights
During the Steel Skyline event, trainers will encounter Dynamax Duraludon in four-star Max Battles, where it will also have the chance to appear in its shiny variant. Other Dynamax Pokémon featured in Max Battles include:
-
One-Star: Dynamax Drilbur, Dynamax Rookidee
-
Three-Star: Dynamax Beldum
-
Four-Star: Dynamax Duraludon
Wild spawns will also shift to highlight Steel-type and related Pokémon. Trainers can expect increased encounters with Pokémon like Axew, Togedemaru, Galarian Meowth, Skarmory, Aron, Porygon, Bronzor, and more—many of which have shiny potential.
Global Challenges and Rewards
The event introduces a set of global challenges requiring trainers worldwide to complete Field Research and throwing-based tasks. Each level of the challenge unlocks powerful bonuses for all players:
-
Level 1: Extra Candy from Nice, Great, and Excellent throws, plus higher Candy XL drop rates for trainers above level 31.
-
Level 2: An additional 5,000 XP for winning raids.
-
Level 3: A guaranteed Rare Candy XL for completing in-person Max Battles.
Research Opportunities
Both free and paid timed research tasks will be available:
-
Free Timed Research will reward players with Stardust, XP, a Magnetic Lure Module, and encounters with themed Pokémon.
-
Paid Timed Research ($1.99) will grant exclusive rewards such as Max Particles, Stardust, and another encounter with Dynamax Duraludon.
In addition, trainers can purchase the Steel Skyline Ultra Ticket Box from the Pokémon GO Web Store for $1.99, which includes an event ticket and three Golden Razz Berries.
Other Upcoming September Events
The Steel Skyline event is part of an action-packed schedule for Pokémon GO in September 2025. Highlights include:

September 20–21: Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend (with its Shiny Shadow form debuting).
-
September 23: Dudunsparce debut.
-
September 28: Mega Camerupt debut.
