Fans of Pokémon Legends: Z-A have a lot to look forward to in November, as The Pokémon Company announced several key updates that will make it easier for trainers to earn Ranked Battle rewards in Season 2. In particular, Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja will both be easier to obtain, ensuring that players who missed out during Season 1 have another shot at collecting their Mega Stones.
The announcement follows the end of the game’s first Ranked Battle season, which debuted alongside the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A earlier this year. While the first season introduced a new four-player free-for-all battle format that emphasized quick, strategic combat, it also drew criticism from some players who felt the requirements for earning Mega Stones were too demanding.
Now, The Pokémon Company is lowering those barriers, promising smoother progression, fewer penalties, and better rewards for those diving back into competitive play.
🥇 Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja Return with Easier Requirements
According to an official announcement from The Pokémon Company, Season 2 of Pokémon Legends: Z-A will significantly reduce the effort required to earn some of the game’s most coveted items.
Previously, players needed to reach Rank K in Ranked Battles to unlock the Delphoxite, the Mega Stone required to evolve Delphox into Mega Delphox. In Season 2, that requirement has been lowered to Rank S, making it far more accessible to the broader player base.
Additionally, Mega Greninja’s signature Mega Stone, Greninjite, will return as a reward for players who reach Rank Y, just above Rank Z. This change ensures that anyone who missed out on Season 1 can now claim both Mega Stones without grinding excessively.
Season 2 is set to run from November 5 to November 25, 2025, starting and ending at 10:00 PM Pacific Time.
The Pokémon Company also confirmed that Ranked Battles will no longer penalize players by reducing points after losses — a common complaint among competitive fans. Instead, point adjustments will now depend on total ranking progress, allowing for more consistent advancement.
⚔️ Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battle Adjustments (Season 2 Overview)
Here’s what’s changing in the Ranked Battle reward structure:
Season 1 (Completed)
-
Rank K Promotion Reward: Greninjite
Season 2 (November 2025)
-
Rank S Promotion Reward: Delphoxite (was Rank K in Season 1)
-
Rank Y Promotion Reward: Greninjite (returning reward from Season 1)
These revisions effectively lower the difficulty by several ranks, ensuring that even casual players have a realistic path to earning Mega Stones during the season’s limited window.
In addition, The Pokémon Company confirmed that Mega Stones will rotate and reappear in future seasons, giving trainers multiple chances to complete their Mega Evolution collections.
🧩 Upcoming Balance and Quality-of-Life Updates
The development team has also addressed various gameplay bugs and softlock issues that appeared during certain side missions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
One major issue involved the day-night cycle glitch, where if a Pokémon was hit by an attack at the exact moment the in-game time shifted from day to night, the target would become immune to further attacks — preventing mission completion. This issue, along with a storage box bug related to Rogue Mega Pokémon, will be resolved in the game’s planned November update.
Beyond fixes, Season 2 will introduce several balance and reward system changes:
-
Points will no longer decrease after match losses.
-
Reward structures will be expanded, with more items distributed per battle.
-
Certain Mega Stones and promotional rewards will have lowered rank thresholds.
🔮 Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Strong Start and Future Plans
Pokémon Legends: Z-A has had a successful launch period, with strong sales figures and high player engagement thanks to its mix of exploration and competitive play. The Ranked Battle format, while initially controversial, has quickly become a popular endgame activity.
With these adjustments in Season 2, The Pokémon Company is signaling a clear intention to make the system more rewarding and accessible — balancing the grind for both newcomers and veteran players.
As the game continues to evolve, it’s likely that future updates will build upon these foundations with new Mega Evolutions, ranked events, and story expansions. For now, trainers should prepare their teams, as the battle for the next set of Mega Stones begins in just a few days.
