One of the standout surprises from Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 was the unveiling of La Divina Commedia, a dark fantasy ARPG from Jyamma Games. Inspired by Dante Alighieri’s legendary Divine Comedy, the game promises an atmospheric journey through Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory, with dungeon systems designed to deliver a “never repetitive” experience. The title is set to launch on PC via Steam.

Taking cues from classics like Dante’s Inferno, La Divina Commedia reimagines Dante’s epic 14th-century poem, which is regarded as one of the cornerstones of Western literature. Players will face monstrous beings and surreal landscapes in a test of both bravery and strategy, as they traverse realms filled with divine light and infernal horrors.

The reveal trailer opened with a haunting excerpt from Dante’s original text: “Midway through the journey of our life, I found myself in a dark forest, for the straight path had been lost.” From there, viewers were introduced to a lone wanderer in a desolate forest beneath a crimson sky, who soon engaged in battle with a bizarre, armored beast. Combat showcased fast-paced, soulslike-inspired mechanics, with the mysterious protagonist—whose face bears pale eyes and a sewn mouth—emerging victorious.

What Sets It Apart

Fans are already comparing La Divina Commedia to titles like Lies of P, Elden Ring, and Black Myth: Wukong, but many are hopeful it will stand out thanks to its faithful nods to Dante’s masterpiece and its surreal, otherworldly environments. Currently, the developer is resolving a technical issue with its Steam page, after which the game will be available for wishlisting.

With the recent rise of innovative ARPGs, La Divina Commedia has quickly piqued fan interest. Though details remain limited, early reception suggests that Jyamma Games could be onto something special with this ambitious take on one of literature’s most iconic journeys.
