Blizzard has officially confirmed one of its boldest collaborations yet: Overwatch 2 is teaming up with Persona 5 for an upcoming crossover during Season 18. Fans of both franchises can look forward to Joker and other Persona 5 characters making their way into the world of Overwatch 2, bringing with them stylish new skins and possibly additional themed cosmetics.
The announcement came during Gamescom, where Blizzard showcased its upcoming Stadium Quickplay update—Season 18’s major patch. This seasonal refresh will expand the game with new maps, modes, and progression systems, as well as the introduction of a brand-new support hero named Wuyang. However, the biggest surprise for many fans was the final teaser of the trailer, which dropped subtle yet unmistakable hints of Persona 5’s involvement.

Persona 5 Meets Overwatch 2
At the end of the Season 18 trailer, sharp red and black visuals appeared on-screen, echoing Persona 5’s signature style. The camera then revealed the silhouette of Joker, the iconic protagonist of the JRPG, who confidently adjusted his gloves before his mask came into view. The short teaser was capped with three bullet holes appearing in a star-shaped emblem, a clear nod to Persona 5’s visual identity and confirmation of the crossover event.
Although Blizzard has not revealed full details, the crossover will likely follow a similar pattern to previous Overwatch 2 collaborations. Fans can expect a selection of hero skins themed around Persona 5 characters, with Joker already confirmed as the highlight. Speculation suggests that Cassidy will be the one receiving the Joker skin, based on the teaser’s imagery. Past crossovers typically include at least four skins, with some expanding to six or more. While most skins will be available through the in-game store, players may also have the chance to unlock one for free via limited-time challenges.
When Will the Crossover Begin?
Blizzard has confirmed that the collaboration won’t launch immediately with Season 18’s start on August 26, 2025. Instead, the Persona 5 event is expected to arrive several weeks later, most likely in September or October. This staggered release is in line with how past Overwatch 2 crossover events have been handled, keeping seasonal content fresh and spread out.
Returning Skins and Other Collaborations
In addition to the Persona 5 crossover, Blizzard announced that the Cowboy Bebop skins will also return for a limited time in Season 18. This marks the first time that Overwatch 2 has brought back collaboration skins from a previous crossover, signaling that Blizzard may be open to rotating older collab items back into circulation. With the success of past partnerships like LE SSERAFIM and One-Punch Man, it seems likely that Overwatch 2 will continue leaning into crossover content as a major part of its seasonal strategy.
For fans of both Overwatch and Persona, this is shaping up to be one of the most exciting updates yet. Whether you’re aiming to play as Joker in a hero shooter environment or just eager to see what other Persona 5-inspired skins appear, Season 18 looks to offer something fresh and stylish for the community.
