Activision has officially confirmed how many Gunfight maps players can expect when Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 arrives this November. At launch, the game will include 16 multiplayer maps, with four of them being smaller “Strike” maps designed specifically for the fast-paced Gunfight and Face Off modes.

This announcement puts Black Ops 7 in line with last year’s Black Ops 6, which also debuted with four small-scale Strike maps. Treyarch’s Design Director, Matt Scronce, explained that while the game will launch with four Gunfight-friendly arenas, additional Strike maps— including some fan-favorite classics—will be added after release as part of seasonal content updates.
The decision to maintain a consistent number of compact maps follows a larger trend in recent Call of Duty releases. Both Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6 expanded their post-launch support with tight, chaotic maps like Shipment, Meat, and Stash House. These maps serve two purposes: providing slower, more tactical 2v2 Gunfight matches and delivering high-intensity action in larger 6v6 playlists. Treyarch seems committed to ensuring Black Ops 7 follows the same approach, balancing competitive gameplay with high-energy chaos.
Beyond its multiplayer, Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s boldest entries yet. The campaign features full four-player co-op and introduces a massive 32-player “Endgame” mission that blends cinematic storytelling with large-scale combat. Meanwhile, the beloved Zombies mode is rumored to revisit Black Ops 2’s fan-favorite TranZit map concept, giving players a new twist on the bus-driven survival adventure.
This installment also marks a major shift in setting. Unlike recent Black Ops titles, Black Ops 7 will return to a futuristic timeline, picking up after the events of Black Ops 2. It’s the first futuristic Call of Duty since 2018’s Black Ops 4, sparking excitement among long-time fans eager for advanced weaponry and high-tech battlegrounds.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on November 14, 2025 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, with full day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. Players can expect more details soon, as Activision has confirmed that the Call of Duty Next event on September 30 will showcase the game’s multiplayer in detail—potentially including a first look at some of the four launch Strike maps.
