Genshin Impact Officially Confirms Nefer for Version 6.1 Update

With Version 6.0 of Genshin Impact now in full swing, HoYoverse has revealed the first major character arriving in the next update. Version 6.1 will introduce Nefer, the enigmatic leader of the Curatorium of Secrets, as a brand-new 5-Star Dendro Catalyst user. The announcement comes after weeks of speculation from leaks and datamines, but Nefer’s reveal finally gives players a clearer picture of what to expect.

Version 6.0 opened the gates of Nod-Krai, a mysterious region located on the southern edge of Snezhnaya. This new area has quickly become a hotspot in Teyvat, bringing together different groups and factions, while also expanding the game’s lore. Players were introduced to multiple new characters in Nod-Krai, though only Lauma, Flins, and Aino have been confirmed as playable additions in this patch. Lauma, a 5-Star Dendro Catalyst with strong support potential, is already available on banners, while Flins and Aino will roll out during the second half of 6.0.

Who is Nefer in Genshin Impact?

  • Rarity: 5-Star

  • Element: Dendro

  • Weapon: Catalyst

  • Role: Lunar-Bloom Hypercarry

  • Constellation: Ludus Latrunculorum

Nefer is shaping up to be the centerpiece of Version 6.1. Unlike many Catalyst users who rely on ranged damage, Nefer takes a more aggressive close-range approach, drawing comparisons to characters like Skirk and Wriothesley. Her unique playstyle revolves around Lunar-Bloom reactions, which she can trigger and then convert into powerful Charged Attacks enhanced by her Elemental Skill.

Interestingly, Nefer’s strength is tied closely to Lauma, whose kit is designed to support Lunar-Bloom synergies. This dependency means that players looking to maximize Nefer’s potential may feel pressured to pull both characters. This type of “duo synergy” has sparked debate within the community, similar to earlier criticisms with Citlali and Mavuika.

Team Compositions and Strategy

A Nefer team without Lauma will still be viable, but much weaker compared to one with both characters. When paired together, Nefer becomes a true hypercarry capable of outputting massive Dendro-based damage. The other two team slots remain flexible, with popular options including Yelan, Xingqiu, Aino, Nahida, Baizhu, and Zhongli.

Players should also keep an eye on Columbina, who is rumored to be joining the roster in Version 6.3. Depending on her kit, she could fit naturally into Nefer’s best teams and potentially reshape the meta.

Release Date and Primogem Planning

HoYoverse has confirmed that Genshin Impact Version 6.1 will launch on October 22, 2025. For free-to-play players, Version 6.0 is packed with Primogems and Intertwined Fates, making it easier to guarantee at least one — or possibly both — 5-Star banners. Those who have been saving since before the Nod-Krai release should have enough resources to secure Nefer and Lauma without relying on heavy spending.

With excitement building, fans of Genshin Impact won’t have to wait long to test Nefer’s abilities firsthand. Whether she becomes a must-pull meta character or simply a fan-favorite addition, her arrival marks another major milestone in the ongoing evolution of Teyvat.
