Techland has officially rolled out the 1.3 update for Dying Light: The Beast, marking the studio’s final major patch of October 2025. While the update may not overhaul the entire game, it brings several meaningful quality-of-life improvements, a highly requested enemy surrender mechanic, and a brand-new crossover event with PUBG Mobile.

Following its strong launch last month, Dying Light: The Beast was praised for refining the series’ hallmark blend of parkour combat and horror survival. Techland now seems determined to build on that momentum with frequent post-launch updates and an ambitious DLC roadmap set to carry the game through early 2026.

⚔️ New Surrender Mechanic Changes Combat Dynamics

The headline addition in Update 1.3 is the new Surrender System, a behavior overhaul for human enemies. Hostile NPCs wielding melee weapons will now recognize when players are aiming a firearm at them — and may choose to surrender rather than fight to the death.

Techland describes this as a more realistic response system that adds new layers of tension and choice to encounters. Once an enemy surrenders, players can decide whether to spare them or take advantage of their submission — with consequences that vary depending on how the player reacts.

This change fits neatly with Techland’s design philosophy of making The Beast feel “alive and reactive,” giving every encounter a sense of unpredictability.

🔪 New Weapon Executions and Combat Finishers

In addition to the new AI behaviors, Update 1.3 introduces nine new weapon execution animations across multiple weapon categories. Each animation brings a fresh, brutal finisher to close-range combat and gives players new ways to dispatch foes in cinematic style.

Here’s the breakdown of new finishers included in the patch:

  • 1 for one-handed bladed weapons

  • 2 for long blunt weapons

  • 2 for long bladed weapons

  • 1 for two-handed blunt weapons

  • 1 for two-handed bladed weapons

  • 1 for knives

  • 1 for knuckledusters

These visceral new animations enhance the game’s already satisfying melee system — one of the core strengths of the Dying Light series since its debut.

🎯 “Call of the Beast” Week 3 Community Challenge

Alongside the new content, Techland has launched the third week of its ongoing “Call of the Beast” community challenges. This week’s challenge, dubbed Sharpshooter, is all about accuracy:

  • Goal #1: Land 10,000,000 accurate firearm shots → Reward: Marksman Car Skin

  • Goal #2: Land 20,000,000 accurate firearm shots → Reward: Bullseye Rifle

To track global progress, players can visit the Dying Light Outpost event hub in-game. The event runs from October 30 (4 PM CET) to November 6 (4 PM CET), and rewards will be automatically distributed to all participating players’ stashes after completion.

🎮 PUBG Mobile Collaboration Launches October 31

Perhaps the most surprising part of the new update is Dying Light: The Beast’s collaboration with PUBG Mobile, which brings a limited-time crossover questline and themed cosmetics to the game.

Players can activate the crossover event via the Dying Light Outpost and receive the Airdrop Finder Car Skin immediately. Completing the new quest, “The Skillet,” after finishing the Power Gambit main story mission, unlocks a range of PUBG-inspired melee weapons, outfits, and charms — including:

  • 🥘 Killing Pan and Battle Royale Bat (increased skull damage)

  • 👕 Marked Man Outfit (XP and headshot bonuses)

  • 🔑 Battleground Keychain Charm (higher decapitation and limb destruction chance)

The crossover event runs from October 31 to November 21, 2025.

⚙️ Gameplay, Balance, and Performance Fixes

Beyond new content, Techland has packed the update with dozens of stability fixes, graphical improvements, and balancing changes:

🔮 Techland’s Roadmap: What’s Next for The Beast

While the 1.3 patch brings meaningful improvements, Techland is far from finished. The studio recently unveiled an 11-week content roadmap leading up to January 2026, which includes:

  • New Game+ mode

  • Legend Levels system

  • Ray tracing support

  • Nightmare difficulty mode

These features will gradually roll out over the coming months, signaling that Dying Light: The Beast is here for the long haul.

For a game already praised for its fluid parkour, intense combat, and reactive world, these ongoing updates show that Techland remains committed to keeping its undead sandbox alive — and more brutal than ever.
