ASUS may be preparing to expand its console accessory lineup, as a recent teaser hints at a brand-new Xbox controller set to be unveiled at Gamescom 2025. Known primarily for its ROG gaming PCs, laptops, and peripherals, ASUS has increasingly ventured into the console space, offering devices and accessories designed for both casual and competitive players.
The company recently gained attention for its upcoming ROG Xbox Handheld, designed to support both Xbox and Steam games on the go. While ASUS already has the ROG Raikiri and Raikiri Pro controllers available for Xbox, PC, and mobile, the teaser suggests that another option will soon be added to its growing catalog.
ASUS’s New Xbox Controller Teaser
The teaser came in the form of a YouTube Short posted on ASUS’s official channel, showing the silhouette of a controller with a classic Xbox-style design. A quick glimpse revealed rear paddle buttons, a feature often associated with pro-tier gamepads. While full details remain under wraps, ASUS confirmed that the controller will be properly showcased during Gamescom 2025, which runs from August 20–24.
Adding to the intrigue, the teaser’s caption highlighted the use of a “new material,” suggesting ASUS may be experimenting with innovations that go beyond the typical improvements in battery life or button responsiveness. ASUS has a history of incorporating magnetic systems in its keyboards, and fans are now speculating whether this technology could carry over to its controller design.
Building on Past Experience
ASUS’s first major Xbox controller, the ROG Raikiri Pro, launched in 2023 with standout features, including an impressive 48-hour battery life—a runtime that far outshined most of its competitors. While the Raikiri Pro was well-received, it left room for refinement in ergonomics and advanced functionality. With two years of feedback to work from, ASUS seems poised to deliver a significantly improved second-generation controller.
Although no specifics have been confirmed yet, ASUS claims this new device will let players “experience the future of gaming,” raising expectations for meaningful advancements in pro-controller technology. With ASUS positioned as a Premium Partner at Gamescom 2025, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see what innovations the company has in store.
