Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Multiplayer Showcases Omnimovement 2.0, New Game Modes, Maps, and Weapons

The hype surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has reached a new peak after developer Treyarch revealed extensive details about the game’s multiplayer during the recent Call of Duty Next event. With a later-than-usual release date of November 14, 2025, the next installment in the long-running franchise promises to shake up the formula with futuristic mechanics, a revamped Omnimovement system, and a wide range of new maps and modes.

A Return to Futuristic Warfare

First unveiled at the Xbox Game Showcase back in June, Black Ops 7 initially shocked fans with its futuristic setting and surreal presentation. Many players assumed the reveal was for a brand-new IP before realizing it was the next Call of Duty. After several years of mostly grounded, modern settings, Treyarch is boldly embracing the future again—something that hasn’t been seen since Black Ops 4 in 2018, when jetpacks, drones, and high-tech warfare were at the series’ forefront.

Omnimovement 2.0 Brings Advanced Mobility

Building on the foundation of Black Ops 6’s popular Omnimovement system, Treyarch confirmed that Black Ops 7 will take things further with enhanced mobility features. Players will now be able to perform wall jumps, advanced wall-runs, and even chain complex maneuvers together depending on perk selection and class builds. This updated version—nicknamed Omnimovement 2.0 by fans—is designed to make combat faster, more vertical, and more unpredictable, staying true to the futuristic theme.

Brand-New Game Modes Expand the Experience

Two new large-scale modes are headlining the multiplayer suite:

  • Overload (6v6): A unique twist on Capture the Flag, where teams must infiltrate enemy territory carrying a power device to score. Unlike traditional objective play, the carrier is vulnerable, creating high-stakes tactical battles.

  • Skirmish (20v20): A massive, Battlefield-inspired mode featuring vehicles, wing suits, and grappling hooks, offering chaotic large-scale battles across sprawling maps.

These will complement the traditional multiplayer modes, giving fans a wider variety of experiences at launch.

Maps and Weapons at Launch

At release, Black Ops 7 will include 18 multiplayer maps:

  • 2 massive 20v20 battlegrounds designed for Skirmish.

  • 16 traditional 6v6 maps, some of which are tailored for Gunfight-style matches.

Notably, three classic maps from Black Ops 2 will return, updated with futuristic visuals and new traversal options.

As for weapons, players can expect 30 futuristic firearms at launch, with more than half being completely new additions to the franchise. From advanced assault rifles and plasma SMGs to prototype energy snipers, Treyarch is clearly aiming for variety and innovation.

Zombies, Beta Access, and Post-Launch Plans

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Treyarch title without Zombies mode, which is set to return alongside multiplayer. Fans won’t have to wait long to get a taste of the action, as the open beta kicks off October 5–8, with early access beginning October 2 for Game Pass subscribers and preorder customers.

With its blend of futuristic mechanics, fan-favorite throwbacks, and fresh multiplayer experiences, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious entries in years.
