Treyarch Confirms Major Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta Updates Coming This Weekend

After just a few days of early access, Treyarch Studios has announced a major wave of updates for the ongoing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta, addressing the community’s biggest concerns around time-to-kill (TTK), automatic doors, weapon XP, and more. The studio confirmed that a significant balance patch will roll out over the weekend, reflecting feedback gathered from thousands of players during the beta’s first 48 hours.

Early Feedback Pushes Treyarch Into Action

The Black Ops 7 beta went live for pre-order users on October 2, with an open beta scheduled to begin October 5. However, it didn’t take long for players to voice their frustrations about certain gameplay mechanics. Complaints centered around the fast TTK, awkward door behavior, and slow weapon progression — all of which Treyarch has now promised to address directly.

According to the developer, the upcoming update will introduce fine-tuned weapon balancing to ensure all guns feel fair and competitive across classes. “We’re adjusting TTK to better reflect the tactical pacing of Black Ops 7 and ensure every weapon fits its intended role,” Treyarch said in a post on Steam.

Door Mechanics Getting a Major Overhaul

Doors have been a recurring topic of debate in recent Call of Duty titles, and Black Ops 7 is no exception. While Treyarch removed the manual door system from previous entries, the automatic doors in the beta haven’t been well-received either. Players complained they open or close too quickly, disrupting map flow and combat rhythm.

To resolve this, the new patch will:

  • Keep specific doors permanently open from the start of matches.

  • Extend how long automatic doors stay open before closing.

  • Increase the distance required for a door to trigger open.

  • Maintain the ability to shoot open doors manually.

Treyarch also revealed it’s evaluating a reduction in the number of automatic doors across maps and may allow competitive players to disable doors in Private Match mode.

Weapon XP, Spawn Logic, and Bug Fixes

Beyond combat pacing, Treyarch is increasing Weapon XP and Overclock earn rates to make progression smoother and allow testers to unlock attachments faster. Spawn logic is also being refined to prevent poor respawn placements in tight maps or chaotic modes.

Here’s what players can expect in the next update:

  • Weapon XP rate increased for faster progression.

  • Overclock earn rate improved for loadout items and scorestreaks.

  • Spawn system tweaks for better fairness across maps and modes.

  • Bug fixes targeting weapon inconsistencies and UI errors.

A smaller Day 2 patch has already gone live, resolving issues with Steam’s social menus, login delays, and server stability related to perks and scorestreaks such as the Tracker Perk, Drone Pod, and Pinpoint Grenade.

Gravemaker Scorestreak Still Unchanged

One point of controversy that remains untouched is the Gravemaker scorestreak, which allows players to detect enemies through walls and eliminate them instantly. Although many fans have called for a nerf, Treyarch has stated it won’t be rebalanced during the beta period, suggesting further testing will continue before launch.

A Beta Built Around Player Feedback

Treyarch emphasized that these changes are only the beginning of a continuous feedback loop leading up to Black Ops 7’s release. “We’re collecting live data every hour of the beta and adjusting our systems accordingly,” the developer wrote. “The goal is to make sure that every weapon, map, and mechanic feels polished by launch.”

With three days left before the open beta goes public, these updates demonstrate that Treyarch is listening closely to community feedback — and is prepared to act fast. Whether these tweaks will be enough to win over skeptical players remains to be seen, but it’s clear that the team is committed to delivering one of the most balanced Call of Duty betas yet.
