Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has expressed strong confidence in the planned release date for Grand Theft Auto 6, reassuring fans concerned about possible delays. Speaking during an interview with CNBC’s Money Movers, Zelnick addressed questions about the game’s schedule following previous setbacks.
GTA 6 has been in the works for years, with Rockstar officially confirming its development in 2022. However, anticipation for the next mainline entry has been building since GTA 5 launched back in 2013. While GTA Online continues to thrive, the long wait for a new single-player installment has tested the patience of the franchise’s community. This frustration grew when the release window shifted from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, fueling speculation of further delays.
When asked directly about his confidence in meeting the current release date, Zelnick responded that his “level of conviction is very, very high,” which the interviewer interpreted as a firm indication that the date will hold. While another delay is still possible—given the scale and expectations surrounding the project—Zelnick’s public remarks suggest the team is on track.
With GTA 6 poised to potentially set new industry records and possibly introduce a higher standard for AAA game pricing, both fans and investors are watching closely. Take-Two’s commitment to meeting expectations while avoiding a rushed release suggests that May 2026 could indeed mark the arrival of one of gaming’s most anticipated titles.
