No Man’s Sky Opens Experimental Branch to Refine Voyagers Update

Hello Games has rolled out a brand-new Experimental Branch for No Man’s Sky, arriving just days after the highly anticipated Voyagers update went live on August 27. While the expansion has been praised for its massive ship customization system and new features like the Skyborn exosuit and jetpack, it also introduced a fair share of technical issues. The Experimental Branch is designed to give players an early look at fixes and optimizations while allowing the community to help refine the experience.

Voyagers Update: A Major Step Forward

The Voyagers update is one of the most significant additions to No Man’s Sky in 2025, placing heavy emphasis on player creativity and customization. For the first time, players can design and construct their own modular ships using hundreds of interchangeable parts inside space station workshops. These new ships—particularly Corvettes—offer fully explorable interiors that can be decorated, outfitted with amenities, and even walked around in while floating outside in space.

This level of freedom has reinvigorated the player community, with fans calling Voyagers one of the most ambitious updates since No Man’s Sky’s original launch. However, with innovation comes instability, and that’s where the Experimental Branch steps in.

Patch Notes Highlight Fixes and Improvements

The Experimental Branch 29/08 patch notes list more than 60 fixes and adjustments. While many are directly related to Corvette functionality, others focus on stability and performance across the board.

Some of the most notable fixes include:

  • Resolving issues with Corvettes failing to dock when space station bays are full.

  • Fixing bugs where the pulse drive would shut off if a player left the pilot’s seat.

  • Correcting visual errors, such as cockpit UIs appearing solid black and weapon effects clipping the screen.

  • Addressing construction workshop problems where deleted parts became permanently unusable.

In addition, the patch adds new teleporter systems to Atlas Stations, allowing smoother travel back to docked Corvettes, and introduces Corvette Construction Workshops to abandoned and pirate stations. These changes not only improve functionality but also make Corvettes feel like a seamless part of No Man’s Sky’s expansive universe.

General Stability Enhancements

Beyond Corvette-specific issues, the update also implements multiple crash fixes tied to particle rendering, frigate expeditions, autopilot systems, exocraft driving, and ship summoning. Large base owners will also benefit from optimizations aimed at improving loading stability in the Space Anomaly.

Players testing the Experimental Branch should keep in mind that it is a beta environment, meaning new issues may appear even as old ones are resolved. Hello Games has encouraged players to back up their save files before participating.

Community Role in Experimental Testing

The Experimental Branch reflects Hello Games’ ongoing commitment to community-driven development. Volunteers who opt into the branch will not only gain early access to fixes but will also play a critical role in helping identify lingering issues. Feedback can be submitted through Hello Games’ official support channels, ensuring that the community has a direct hand in shaping future updates.

Looking Ahead

As No Man’s Sky continues to evolve nearly a decade after its launch, the Voyagers update marks another turning point for the game. Custom-built ships, walkable interiors, and expanded exploration options give players new reasons to return to the galaxy. The Experimental Branch ensures that these innovations are refined and polished before they hit the main build, solidifying No Man’s Sky’s reputation as a constantly evolving space adventure.
