Square Enix has confirmed that it already knows when it plans to release the long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, the concluding chapter of the modern trilogy. While the company has not shared a public release date or even a launch year, insiders and developers have revealed that an internal schedule is already in place, and progress on the game is said to be moving forward smoothly.

The Journey So Far

The reimagined trilogy began in 2020 with the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which reintroduced players to Midgar with expanded storytelling, real-time combat, and cinematic presentation. Four years later, in 2024, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continued the saga and was widely praised, even securing a Game of the Year nomination at The Game Awards. With the trilogy’s first two entries now cemented as modern classics, fans are desperate to know when Cloud Strife’s story will reach its dramatic conclusion.

Nomura’s Comments Spark Speculation

During a recent broadcast, trilogy director Tetsuya Nomura gave fans the biggest update yet, confirming that Square Enix has already locked in a release window for Part 3. While he refrained from sharing specifics about the game’s title or storyline, Nomura emphasized that the development team is working diligently toward the company’s chosen timeline.

Earlier this year, Cody Christian, the English voice actor for Cloud Strife, also hinted that Part 3 was further along in production than many fans believed. This has fueled speculation that the game could arrive sooner than expected—although most industry rumors still point to a 2027 or 2028 release window.

What Fans Can Expect

The official name of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 remains unannounced, but the expectations are enormous. As the conclusion to one of gaming’s most beloved stories, the final chapter will need to deliver on decades of fan anticipation. Alongside gameplay and narrative speculation, fans are also curious whether Square Enix will include new content, additional playable characters, or expanded open-world exploration.

Meanwhile, series producer Yoshinori Kitase recently spoke about the possibility of a Final Fantasy 7 movie adaptation, noting that while nothing is currently in development, it’s an idea he would love to see realized in the future. Fellow director Naoki Hamaguchi has also suggested that once the Remake trilogy is complete, the team could pursue another classic Final Fantasy remake or even a brand-new project.

The Road Ahead

For now, fans will need to be patient. Square Enix has confirmed that development on Part 3 is progressing well, but no teaser, trailer, or release date has been revealed yet. Given the massive success of the first two entries, expectations are sky-high for the trilogy’s finale, which will likely become one of the most anticipated RPG releases of the decade.

Until Square Enix pulls back the curtain, fans will continue speculating about when they’ll finally step into Cloud Strife’s shoes for the last chapter of his journey.
