HoYoverse has officially pulled back the curtain on the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.3 update, and fans have a lot to look forward to. The highly anticipated patch, scheduled to launch on October 15, introduces three brand-new characters alongside re-runs of some of the game’s most popular units. The 2.3 Special Program livestream gave players a detailed look at the new story chapter, limited banners, special events, and even cosmetic updates like a new skin for Vivian and optional buffs for Soldier 0 Anby.
Version 2.3 introduces multiple new characters tied to the Spook Shack faction. The update will debut two S-Rank additions: Lucia, an Ether Support, and Yidhari, an Ice Rupture specialist. Alongside them, players will also meet Komano Manato, an A-Rank Fire Rupture character. The arrival of these units expands the Spook Shack roster while adding new gameplay depth with the Rupture Specialty, which first made waves with Yixuan’s debut earlier in the season.
The Special Program confirmed the order of banners for Version 2.3:
Version 2.3 First Half
- Lucia: S-Rank Ether Support
- Vivian: S-Rank Ether Support (re-run)
- Komano Manato: A-Rank Fire Rupture
Version 2.3 Second Half
- Yidhari: S-Rank Ice Rupture
- Ju Fufu: S-Rank Fire Stun (re-run from Version 2.0)
The first phase will spotlight Lucia and her synergy with Komano Manato, while Vivian returns to give players another chance to secure one of the game’s strongest support characters. The second phase will introduce Yidhari, offering an Ice-based damage option, alongside Ju Fufu’s return.
The addition of new Rupture-focused characters highlights HoYoverse’s efforts to expand gameplay diversity. Rupture units are designed to bypass enemy resistances, making them powerful offensive options. This Specialty has already proven its impact, with characters like Yixuan shaking up the meta and becoming staples in high-level play.
Beyond banners, the Special Program also teased several characters set to appear in future updates. Fans caught glimpses of four unreleased characters, building hype for upcoming story arcs and gameplay variety. HoYoverse further hinted at the expansion of the “Angels of Delusion” faction, a virtual idol group first referenced in Version 2.1’s main event. With such additions, the cast of Zenless Zone Zero is set to grow even larger in the coming months.
Overall, Version 2.3 looks to be a major milestone for Zenless Zone Zero. Between new characters, returning fan favorites, and continued world-building, HoYoverse is clearly aiming to keep the momentum going strong as the title enters its next phase of updates.
