Capcom’s latest update for Monster Hunter Wilds appears to be creating unexpected problems for some players. While the 1.021 patch introduced new content and improvements, reports have surfaced of crashes during Fast Travel or when fainting and returning to camp under certain conditions. Capcom has acknowledged the issue and is already preparing a follow-up patch, 1.021.01.00, though an official release date has not yet been announced.
Update 1.021 added a range of new features, including the Glowing Stone appraisal item, a Recoil Aim Assist option, and enhancements to Appraised Talismans via the Melding Pot. The patch also addressed numerous bugs and introduced balance adjustments to refine the gameplay experience.

Despite Monster Hunter Wilds’ strong launch—selling over 10 million units this year—recent sales have slowed, with only 477,000 copies sold in the last quarter and a steep decline in active Steam players. Capcom aims to improve PC performance in upcoming updates, with director Yuya Tokuda noting that reducing CPU strain without further affecting performance is a priority, likely targeted for the fourth title update this winter.
Fans remain hopeful that Capcom will resolve the crashing issues quickly. With Monster Hunter Wilds still holding an average score of 89 on OpenCritic, addressing these technical problems while delivering fresh content could help the game regain momentum and maintain its position as one of 2025’s standout action-adventure titles.
