New gameplay footage of Battlefield 6 has surfaced online, offering fans their clearest look yet at the upcoming map known as New Sobek City. The leaked material highlights the chaotic blend of infantry skirmishes and vehicle-based combat that has long defined the franchise, while also giving players a glimpse of the franchise’s returning Breakthrough mode.

New Sobek City Leak Offers First Look at Map in Action

On September 6, a 13-minute video appeared on YouTuber ErsinFPS’s channel, showing New Sobek City gameplay from what appears to be a Breakthrough match. In the footage, infantry units advance under the cover of armored vehicles, with the gameplay flow suggesting a more linear structure typical of the mode.

Breakthrough has been a staple of Battlefield since Battlefield 1, featuring large teams divided into attackers and defenders. While maps for the mode can range from expansive to moderately sized, New Sobek City seems to lean toward the smaller end. However, early comparisons suggest it will still be broader than Liberation Peak, one of the maps available during the open beta.

Urban Warfare Meets Construction Zone Chaos

EA has previously described New Sobek City as a construction-site battleground located just outside of Cairo, framed by sprawling sand dunes. The leaked footage aligns with this description, showcasing dusty plazas, scaffolding-heavy work zones, and multiple avenues of approach. This design encourages close-quarters infantry clashes, while still leaving open routes for vehicles and aerial units.

Notably, the clip also reveals location-specific vehicle damage — tanks and transports struck by RPGs show loose panels, bent doors, and visibly degraded armor. This detail is something fans have been requesting since older Battlefield titles, though it remains unclear how extensive the destruction system will ultimately be.

A Playground for Combined Arms Combat

Even though the footage was reportedly captured on a local server using bots, it still provides valuable insight into how the map might play in live matches. With tight chokepoints for infantry and wide boulevards for vehicles, New Sobek City looks designed to balance combined arms combat. Helicopters also appear to have ample airspace, making aerial support a factor in matches.

Launch Details

New Sobek City will be one of nine maps available at launch, joining Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, Siege of Cairo, Empire State, and several others yet to be fully revealed. The footage suggests a solid balance of scale, cover, and variety that could make it one of the standout levels in the game.

Battlefield 6 officially launches on October 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with New Sobek City expected to be a central part of the post-launch conversation.
