FromSoftware has officially released Elden Ring Nightreign Update 1.02.2, the latest patch for its fast-growing co-op Soulslike. The update, which went live on September 10, 2025, delivers a large set of balance adjustments, bug fixes, and gameplay improvements, as well as setting the stage for the highly anticipated Deep of Night game mode launching on September 11.
A Successful Start for Nightreign
Launched in May 2025, Elden Ring Nightreign quickly became one of the year’s breakout hits, selling more than 5 million copies worldwide. While some critics noted issues with solo balance, the multiplayer combat and cooperative features were widely praised, earning the game an 81 average score on OpenCritic. Frequent patches since release show FromSoftware’s commitment to addressing fan feedback and keeping the game fresh.
Key Class and Enemy Adjustments
The 1.02.2 update introduces meaningful buffs across several classes. The Wylder now has improved Poise while casting Claw Shot, along with higher Stamina damage against blocking enemies. Guardians benefit from increased Strength and Dexterity growth, as well as buffs to the Wings of Salvation ultimate. Other classes like the Duchess, Raider, Revenant, Recluse, and Executor also received improvements, making combat feel more dynamic and balanced.
At the same time, some enemies have been tweaked for fairness and difficulty. Several Everdark Sovereigns—including the Sentient Pest, Equilibrious Beast, and Darkdrift Knight—received balance changes to ensure late-game encounters remain both challenging and fair. More than 25 bugs were also resolved, ranging from animation fixes to issues with relic effects, skill execution, and online stability.
New Game Mode: Deep of Night
Perhaps the most exciting addition is the upcoming Deep of Night mode, arriving on September 11. This mode is designed specifically for veteran players, raising the difficulty of even basic enemies while forcing expeditions to hunt down random Nightlords. Players who brave the challenge will unlock Depth Relics, powerful items that provide both buffs and drawbacks, ensuring high risk and high reward gameplay. FromSoftware describes the mode as a true test for the hardcore community.
Looking Ahead
With Update 1.02.2 and the launch of Deep of Night, FromSoftware has reinforced Elden Ring Nightreign as one of the most engaging co-op games of 2025. The frequent updates suggest the developers intend to maintain momentum heading into 2026, with fans eager to see whether additional modes, expansions, or crossover content could be on the horizon.
For now, players can dive into the newly patched game and prepare for one of the toughest challenges yet when Deep of Night arrives on September 11.
