The ever-evolving hero shooter Marvel Rivals, developed by NetEase, has officially rolled out its September 2025 update, and it’s packed with new content, bug fixes, and a wave of summer-themed fun. The update doesn’t just fine-tune gameplay—it delivers a second round of the popular Summer Special event, giving fans plenty of reasons to log back in.

This new event, Summer Special Vol. 2, introduces swimsuit-inspired cosmetics for iconic Marvel characters such as Mantis, Human Torch, and The Thing. Players can progress through matches to earn experience points toward a refreshed battle pass. The free track includes rewards like The Thing’s “Rocky Tide” skin, while the premium version unlocks additional exclusive outfits like Mantis’ “Oceanic Harmony” and Human Torch’s “Sunny Sizzler.” The event runs from September 18th to October 17th, 2025, so players have a limited window to grab these seasonal cosmetics.

Beyond the event, players can also claim a free “Volleyball Bash” group emote bundle during a short promotional period. Premium bundles are also hitting the in-game store, featuring Invisible Woman’s Azure Shade and Punisher’s Aqua Arsenal, adding more flair for Marvel fans who love customizing their roster.

The update doesn’t stop at cosmetics. NetEase has expanded chat functionality, allowing players to experiment with emojis, colored fonts, and special characters for greater in-game expression. Replay data has also been improved, now offering deeper insights into hero performance and match statistics, making it easier for competitive players to track progress.

As always, the patch comes with a series of fixes. Key adjustments include resolving a comical bug where Angela’s head appeared oversized in her Giant-Size Brain Blast ability, and fine-tuning Ultron’s attack animations so his blasts fire precisely from his palms. Loki’s costume glitch during transformations has also been corrected, ensuring smoother gameplay experiences across matches. Console players, particularly on PS5, will also benefit from performance optimizations, reducing rare cases of screen tearing and frame drops.

With new cosmetics, balance tweaks, and a steady drip of improvements, this update shows NetEase’s commitment to keeping Marvel Rivals engaging as a live-service title. That said, speculation continues within the community after dataminers uncovered references to a mysterious new loot-box-like system codenamed “Mysteries.” While unconfirmed, the potential addition has sparked discussions reminiscent of controversies in other franchises like Overwatch and Star Wars Battlefront.

For now, however, fans can dive into the sun-soaked chaos of Summer Special Vol. 2, score some flashy new outfits, and enjoy smoother gameplay across the board.
