Bloober Team has wasted no time rolling out the first hotfix for Cronos: The New Dawn, just days after the game’s highly praised launch. The horror adventure, already being hailed as one of 2025’s standout titles, has now received a patch that primarily addresses save compatibility problems, bugged achievements, and several quality-of-life improvements. The update went live on September 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming shortly.
A Quick Turnaround After Launch
Cronos: The New Dawn debuted less than a week ago to strong reviews and glowing fan feedback, positioning itself alongside heavy hitters like Hollow Knight: Silksong, Borderlands 4, and Silent Hill f as one of September’s biggest releases. While the launch was smooth overall, a number of players encountered frustrating issues with save data corruption, broken autosaves, and blocked progression points.
Bloober Team acknowledged these concerns quickly and promised a fast response. True to their word, Hotfix 1 (ver. 323631) has now been deployed, smoothing out some of the most disruptive bugs.
Save System and Progression Fixes
The most critical fixes target the game’s save and autosave system. Players previously risked losing progress due to save compatibility conflicts at key story moments, including the church bell tower barricade and the apartment zone puzzles. These issues could completely halt progression, forcing players to restart sections of the game. The hotfix resolves these problems and ensures autosaves trigger more reliably, particularly after boss battles and zone transitions.
Achievement Repairs
Several achievements were also not functioning properly at launch. Notably:
-
Boon of the Relics – Failing to register purchased weapons.
-
Pathfinder – Not unlocking if players skipped a cutscene too quickly.
-
Pyromaniac – Not triggering when burning biomass with the Pyre ability.
All three achievements, along with others, are now fixed and should unlock as intended.
Crash and Stability Improvements
Beyond progression and achievements, the hotfix addresses a handful of crash scenarios and visual bugs. For instance, a dialogue sequence with the Warden could cause a crash, HDR menus displayed inconsistently, and enemies sometimes became stuck without valid paths. These stability fixes should result in a much smoother playthrough.
Quality-of-Life Enhancements
Bloober also slipped in several small but welcome improvements:
-
An additional autosave before the brothers’ cutscene in the factory.
-
A New Game+ info screen to explain stash access for carried-over gear.
-
Better scrolling in the EULA screen and cleaned-up UI markers.
While minor compared to the save system overhaul, these changes improve the overall flow and player experience.
Nintendo Switch 2 Update Incoming
For Nintendo players, the hotfix has not yet rolled out on Switch 2, though Bloober confirmed it is in certification and should release within days. Fans are advised to watch the studio’s social channels for a firm launch date.
Looking Forward
With its first hotfix already live, Bloober Team has shown clear commitment to post-launch support for Cronos: The New Dawn. Players can expect additional patches and balance tweaks in the coming weeks, as the studio continues refining one of 2025’s best horror experiences.
