Nexon has officially announced that Bayonetta, the beloved Umbra Witch from PlatinumGames’ hack-and-slash franchise, will be crossing over into The First Descendant this fall. The collaboration, revealed during Tokyo Game Show 2025, brings Bayonetta-inspired skins and cosmetics to the third-person looter shooter starting November 6, 2025.
Launched in June 2024, The First Descendant is a cooperative action RPG that lets players control “Descendants,” powerful heroes who wield advanced weapons and supernatural abilities to defend humanity against alien invaders known as the Vulgus. Supporting up to four-player squads, the game combines intense firefights with RPG progression, making it one of Nexon’s most ambitious live-service projects to date.
Bayonetta Arrives as a Playable Skin for Gley
According to Nexon, Bayonetta’s signature style will arrive in the form of a character skin for Gley, one of the game’s core Descendants. The crossover also introduces a weapon skin modeled after Bayonetta’s Scarborough Fair pistols, which long-time fans will instantly recognize as part of her iconic arsenal. The announcement trailer showcased Bayonetta’s unmistakable presence on the battlefield, complete with acrobatics, stylish combos, and even her famous Witch Time ability, which slows enemies down for cinematic takedowns.
More Cosmetics Inspired by the Witch
Beyond the Gley skin and weapon set, the crossover will include additional Bayonetta-themed cosmetics. These will feature:
-
Heel-gun inspired effects
-
Exclusive makeup options
-
A themed social emote/motion
-
Unique spawn and despawn animations
Together, these items aim to capture Bayonetta’s flamboyant personality and high-energy combat flair, giving fans of both franchises something special to look forward to.
Livestream Preview and October Updates
To celebrate the announcement, Nexon will host a livestream on September 26 at 5 PM PT, where developers will showcase upcoming content leading into the crossover. The stream will preview the October 1 update, introducing a new Sword weapon class, modules, and a brand-new dungeon for players to tackle.
Not the First Collaboration
This isn’t Nexon’s first time bringing outside franchises into The First Descendant. Earlier in 2025, the game held a crossover event with NieR: Automata, adding cosmetics based on fan-favorite androids 2B and A2. The partnership proved popular with fans and set the stage for future collaborations—making Bayonetta’s arrival a natural next step.
With stylish action, rich customization, and a fan-favorite heroine entering the mix, the Bayonetta crossover looks to bring a fresh wave of excitement to The First Descendant’s growing community. Players won’t have long to wait before stepping into the Umbra Witch’s heels when the event goes live this November.
