Battlestate Games has shed new light on the future of Escape From Tarkov, confirming that the long-running extraction shooter will eventually feature four unique story endings as part of its main campaign. However, according to studio head Nikita Buyanov, the best ending will be extremely difficult to achieve, with only a small fraction of the player base expected to unlock it.

During a Q&A session with fans at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, Buyanov explained that player choices, completion progress, and overall performance will dictate which ending they receive. “There will be four different endings, and it will depend on your completion and progression and everything like that,” Buyanov stated. He added that escaping with the best ending will be “really hard,” suggesting that perhaps only around 2% of players will ever manage it. “Not everyone will escape from Tarkov at all,” he continued, describing the achievement of reaching the ultimate conclusion as something players could treat like “the accomplishment of a lifetime.”
A Narrative Future for Escape From Tarkov
While Escape From Tarkov currently includes quests, these are not yet tied together into a broader story-driven campaign. The introduction of multiple endings marks a major step toward turning the game into a full-fledged narrative experience alongside its already brutal survival gameplay. Battlestate has not confirmed whether the campaign and endings will be fully available with the game’s long-awaited 1.0 release on November 15, or if they will be added in a later update.
The 1.0 launch will also coincide with Escape From Tarkov arriving on Steam for the first time, opening the doors to a potentially massive new audience. With the influx of fresh players, Battlestate will need to ensure that long-standing issues such as cheating are kept under control—something the studio has been battling for years.

Looking Ahead
Having been in early access since 2017, Escape From Tarkov has become a cult favorite for hardcore FPS fans thanks to its unforgiving mechanics, high-stakes loot system, and realistic gunplay. The promise of four narrative-driven endings could give veteran players something entirely new to strive for, adding even more longevity to the experience.
For now, fans know one thing for certain: escaping Tarkov will remain a monumental challenge, and only the most dedicated survivors will ever see the game’s ultimate conclusion.
