The world of Marvel Rivals is about to get darker, creepier, and far more chaotic. NetEase Games has officially announced the arrival of the game’s first-ever PvE mode, developed in collaboration with the Marvel Zombies TV series from Disney+. This exciting crossover will introduce players to a thrilling survival experience where heroes face endless hordes of undead threats inspired by the Marvel Zombies universe.
Since its launch in December 2024, Marvel Rivals has steadily grown into one of the most talked-about hero shooters of the decade. With each new season introducing fresh heroes, balance tweaks, and gameplay modes, NetEase continues to expand the game’s universe in creative ways. Season 4 already brought popular heroes like Angela and Daredevil, while the upcoming Season 5 promises a long-requested feature — cross-progression, allowing players to seamlessly switch between platforms without losing their skins, rewards, or progression.
🧟 Marvel Rivals x Marvel Zombies: A Battle for Survival
In a newly released trailer on YouTube, NetEase revealed that players will soon dive into a PvE experience unlike anything seen before in Marvel Rivals. Tied directly to Marvel Zombies, the event will see teams of four heroes fending off relentless waves of zombie enemies and powerful bosses taken straight from the series — including Zombie Namor and The Queen of the Dead. The mode is set to launch on October 23, just in time for Halloween, although no end date has been confirmed.
Unlike traditional modes where players can select from a large roster of characters, this PvE experience will feature a limited selection of five heroes: Magik, Jeff the Land Shark, Blade, The Punisher, and Thor. Each hero will come equipped with unique powers and special abilities, specifically tailored for surviving against the undead. With only four-player squads, teamwork and strategy will be crucial to survive the zombie apocalypse.
🎃 Halloween Content and Future Updates
Alongside the new mode, NetEase is also rolling out a wave of Halloween-themed content. Players can unlock spooky new costumes for fan-favorite characters such as Jeff the Land Shark, Peni Parker, Scarlet Witch, and Spider-Man. The developers have also teased that this update marks just the beginning of a much bigger roadmap for Marvel Rivals, with new heroes, maps, and crossover events planned well into 2026.
This announcement has sparked major excitement across the Marvel Rivals community. Fans have been calling for more diverse gameplay experiences beyond PvP, and this collaboration with Marvel Zombies seems to deliver exactly that — blending the high-energy combat of Marvel Rivals with the dark, cinematic tone of the zombie-infested Marvel universe.
With its growing roster, consistent content updates, and now the introduction of its first PvE event, Marvel Rivals is positioning itself as one of the most ambitious and evolving hero shooters in recent memory. As the undead rise, heroes will have to fight not only to win — but to survive.
